Uno's Arts

Every true artist should appreciate the work of another artists creativity, especially when they're your significant other. Most people probably think that artist's paint pictures, take photographic images, make clay sculptures, or construct other crafty creations. So who would think that amazing art would come out of stainless steel scrap laying around with some customized welds. My boyfriend, Jamie, welds with a Miller Maxstar 150 tig welder, and uses a torch as his paintbrush to make all kinds of sculptures. He's been a stainless steel welder for five years. In those years gave him a lot of time to explore what he was capable of doing during his free time.

Jamie is already selling his art all over the country while he's traveling from factory to factory to weld stainless steel equipment for his job. When he worked in Okeechobee, Florida at a orange juice factory near by is where he really started to focus on his art. After working 12 hour days he would set up his shop in the back of the work truck to make something special. This might sound cheesy but it all started with a rose that he made to give me, and keep it forever for Valentine's Day. The rose turned out so spectacular that other people at the factory wanted him to make them one too. At the end of his trip he made six rose's.

That following summer Jamie had a job in Garden City, Long Island, New York at a ravioli factory. This is where he made his first master piece. The production manager of the plant asked Jamie to fabricate him a bald eagle. Jamie accepted the challenge and completed the sculpture in 4 days. The Manager of the plant was just ecstatic with the outcome of the finished product he offered Jamie five hundred dollars for his outstanding work. This encouraged him to hopefully make art full time some day, because there are people who truly appreciate his work. Also knowing that his art is all over the nation is an amazing thing.

  1. I'd like to see your blog font a little small. Your posts take a lot of scrolling. As far as matching your blog to FB & Twitter, you might want to use the background graffiti image and use that as your cover photos. I really enjoyed reading about the artist technique article on your Twitter. Maybe there could be more of that. And, of course, more artwork! Even artwork of famous mixed media artists too would be sweet!! Great job!

  2. I agree with Deanna completely. Font size smaller, less bold, and white. Again, I want your art to be the focal point of your blog. I don't want the text dominate and distract.

Awesome topic. Jamie does AMAZING work. Wow! This is a prime example of what I mentioned above. The photos of Jamie's creations are awesome, but they get lost in the scrolling, boldness, and color. Let him shine!
